In this hot summer, the Antiquities and Monuments Office of the Development Bureau will present ‘The Majestic Han - Mid-summer Fun Day’ on 23 August 2026 at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC). On the event day, Ms Lee Mei-yin, Special Research Fellow of the Dunhuang Academy, will deliver a public talk on “Glimpses of Life in the Han dynasty through Cultural Relics” and Professor Jiao Nanfeng, Shannxi Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, will conduct a star guided tour. Other exhibition education activities and games include music concert by the Greater Bay Area Philharmoni, pitch-pot, exhibit colouring, Leopard Cat’s Zine Workshop, dinosaur modelling clay workshop, cookie workshop and badge making, Majestic Han exhibit four-colour stamp etc.!

Programme Highlights

1. Public Talk

Ms Lee Mei-yin, Special Research Fellow of the Dunhuang Academy, Hong Kong Museum Expert Adviser, will deliver a talk on ‘Glimpses of Life in the Han Dynasty through Cultural Relics’ at Lecture Hall, HDC at 3 pm.Click herefor details.

2. Pitch-Pot

Experience this popular game from Han dynasty banquets. Challenge yourself to toss arrows into the pot!

3. ‘Dressing Up the Exhibits’ Colouring Activity

Choose your favourite Majestic Han exhibits and colour them! Unleash your creativity to create a unique piece!

4. Dinosaur Modelling Clay Workshop

Create a mini dinosaur with modelling clay and learn about palaeontology!

5. Concert by the Greater Bay Area Philharmonic

The Greater Bay Area Philharmonic will host concert at Lecture Hall, HDC, a performance combining heritage with music.

6. Majestic Han X Dinosaur Cookie Workshop (You must first complete the ‘Dinosaur Parlour’ Stamp Mission)

Use chocolate pens to draw stylish patterns on cookies under the guidance of instructors to create your own cookie. First-come, first-served, while stocks last.

7. Leopard Cat’s Zine Workshop

Create your own custom zine using just one sheet of paper!

8. Make Your Own Badge

Choose your favourite Han artefacts to create your own badge.

9. Guided Tours of ‘The Majestic Han’ Exhibition

Join our guided tours to admire the ‘The Majestic Han’ exhibition and learn about the history and culture of Han dynasty.
